Barry the Bike books are set in a time that was simpler and a lot less rushed than the lives we live today. The stories do not suffer from being cluttered with the latest technology and products that become outdated before the book is read. The Barry the Bike series is designed to bring enjoyment for all ages and encourage young children to read them over and over again.
Many motor vehicles today look so similar it is hard to distinguish one brand from another. In the period of Barry the Bike, each car, truck and motorcycle had its own unique style and character. This is captured throughout the series and brings delight to the young and stirs the memories in the not so young.
I really hope you will enjoy reading and looking at the illustrations as much as I enjoyed producing these very unique children’s picture books.

Reviews
My Grand kids love reading the books with me.
As I have had and built bikes since my teenage years I get a kick out of talking bikes with them.
Even my 3 year old grandson thinks my workshop and bikes is his favourite place.
I’m so pleased to have purchased all books of Barry the Bike. Such a great book for my grandchildren (and myself) to read and enjoy. The quality of the publication is "top notch"
What the critics say
We can confidently state that your work was found to be a most engaging and wholesome read that was
beautifully written with incredible illustrations, very well suited for a young audience.

The Board was very pleased with the inclusive message of self-belief and friendship, which was delivered through a most effective and original plot. Barry’s anxieties and excitement over finding a home speak to a universal wish for belonging within all of us and are depicted using appropriate language that makes these scenes even more evocative. The focus on classic motor vehicles from the early to mid-twentieth century delighted the Board and is sure to appeal to young readers and parents alike.
The Board further appreciated how you depicted these vehicles with clear and exaggerated expressions, such as the complaining and short, abrupt utterances of Big Brown Grumpy Truck. The illustrations were incredible and stunning, beautifully crafted with a unique style and appropriate colour schemes to amaze young readers, as well as adults. The detail and differences in each bike depicted serve as a fitting homage and worked to further differentiate between your cast, perfectly complimenting your tone and effectively enhancing your writing.
It is the belief of the Board that both of you should be extremely proud of the work you have produced, not only for the original and stylistic illustrations, but the heartfelt story you have written that accompanies them.
